Congratulations to Rob O’Neill, Matt Heys and Kelly Heys for winning the ‘Delivering for Front Line Staff’ award at this year’s HTN People and Partnership Awards for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT). The award was for the powerful tool, Command Centre, that has enabled flow coordinators to save time and make more effective decisions on a minute by minute basis.

Command Centre is a collaboration between University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and QlickiT, and powered by leading analytics platform, Qlik Sense, that has boosted triage and discharge times. It consists of 5 live-view wall-mounted touchscreens, fed live with Ambulance, ED in, ED out, Live Bed State and IP out data; all interactive and drillable patient level. It enables rapid analysis for flow coordinators making on-the-ground decisions throughout the day.

Whilst the award was for the positive impact on frontline staff, the solution has undoubtedly had a big effect on patient experience too. 95% of patients are now triaged within 15 minutes of arrival at ED (up from 67%) and the percentage of patients being cared for on non-medical wards, due to capacity pressures, has been reduced from 8% to 2%. Additionally, the proportion of patients discharged by midday has grown from 16% to 19%.

So, what is next? Well, we are excited to be partnering with Rob and the team to bring Command Centre to the rest of the NHS, already putting it in place at other sites. As an affordable, rapidly implementable (just two days at the latest new site), there is no reason why patients all across the NHS should not be benefitting from enhanced patient flow pathways. Already working in collaboration with other NHS organisations, we have been adding new features to Command Centre, including full predictive modelling capabilities, looking beyond even a complete live view!

Having specialised in delivering outstanding Qlik solutions since 2005, we work closely with over 60 public sector customers. Recently acquired by Catalyst IT, we are the largest Qlik Provider in the UK, well positioned to ensure the NHS gets the full benefits that Command Centre delivers to service capacity. If you feel your organisation could benefit from a live, predictive view of your entire ED flow, don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information and a demonstration.

Congratulations again to UHMBT for this fantastic recognition, richly deserved by Rob and the team!

QlickiT customer Teva have won a prestigious BOBI award (Best of Business Intelligence) for their ‘Using NHS Rx data to drive cost efficiencies in the UK’ entry. Awarded by the BHBIA (British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association) the Teva team (including Chris Reynolds, David Heaster and Jayne East) won in the ‘Excellence in Business Analytics’ category.

Teva Award

The winning project was designed to demonstrate potential cost efficiencies to the NHS through optimal uptake of Teva products. Using QlikView and the expertise of QlickiT’s David Brown, Teva built an online application that CCGs could use to identify cost savings simply by using the publicly available DM&D weekly data. The application automatically updates weekly and allows CCGs to drill down to practice level data to help them prioritise the biggest saving opportunities.

In their appraisal the judges remarked on the ‘effective and repeatable way of handling large datasets that facilitates effective communication with their customers’. They also remarked that the ‘tool looks good’, ‘replaces inefficient processes’ and most importantly ‘is clearly generating benefits to the business already’.

QlickiT would like to congratulate the Teva team on their innovative use of publicly available data to bring about simultaneous and significant benefits to both the NHS and their own business. This is a fantastic example of something we are extremely passionate about - utilising all available data smartly to bring about positive change. Excellent work from the Teva team and we look forward to their next innovations using Qlik!
